Request cvar for the fall anim

Will not add

Some may like the fall anim and some may not. It would also do well with the fall damage that is on servers. Would give good flexibility just like dmflags.

Are you talking about the fall-from-a-distance knockdown or the animation itself? I assume you're talking about the knockdown, and to this I say that I'd prefer this to be standardized; all servers should keep it. It, I believe, will become crucial for Force/Merc balance.

Balanced is a fixed thing, and should not be something that servers interpret on their own. I am working on adding more strategic gameplay, and having to pay attention to your falls is one of them.

The fall damage is added for balance, and future changes are relying on it as well. It will be easier to deal with once the new jetpack and force fall power are enabled.

This change actually benefits mercs more than it does jedi right now, since both sides can roll out of the way of the saber pounce move, but the knockdown is just long enough for a merc to get off a killing sniper shot.

Please no more discussion on this. From watching several servers and how players deal with the fall knockdown, I am certain it is a positive change to bring out more strategy in the game.

My problem with fall

My problem with fall knockdown is that it introduced an unintended gameplay breaking 1hit kill move for jedi's.

In the previous versions of lmd, a Jedi could grip another Jedi above them and pull them down, resulting in a "splat". This splat -only- resulted if the gripper's pull level was higher than the gripee's.

With fall-knockdown, even jedi's with lvl 5 push/pull will be knocked down by this move, leaving them grounded and open to an easy kill via saber.

This move does very little to enhance the gameplay. As mentioned before, you can simply avoid it's intended use by performing a roll. I don't see any real point to a move that's intended use is so easy to avoid, and that also creates a handful of gameplay breaking mechanics.

I would love to agree, however LMD is quite unbalanced atm, and every change I've seen recently has gone to make it more unbalanced.

Balanced is a fixed thing. It does not change from server to server unless the builder is stupid enough to place concussion rifles and unlimited ammo everywhere (which is usually what happens). Making this a cvar would only make some servers be balanced worse/better depending on how the cvar is set.

So no, making this a cvar is a horribad idea.
